Spring opener: forty tandem flights in one day

The first warm Saturday of the year felt like a celebration. By half past ten the wind was steady out of the west, the grass was still wet from the morning, and we had six people on the field waiting for their first ride on the T2 payout winch.

What makes a day like this work is the combination of the winch itself and a team that has been towing together for years. Gerard on the winch, Michael running the launch, Frank taking the experienced passengers, and Andre sending the beginners up with a smooth, low tension build.

Forty tandem starts, zero drama

By the end of the day we had logged forty tandem flights. The T2 handled every single one — from the fifty-kilo first-timer who needed a soft ride, to the ninety-five-kilo former skydiver who wanted to see how fast eleven hundred metres really is. Remote-controlled tension adjustment is what makes the same winch work across that range.

Why Kückhoven works

Kückhoven is a flat field about thirty kilometres north of our workshop in Geilenkirchen. No mountain. No thermal dependence. Just a long, smooth stretch of grass and a reliable westerly wind. It is exactly the kind of site the T2 was built for.
