Our payout winch is officially DHV-certified and reaches tow heights of up to 1100 metres. What is a payout winch?

A payout winch tows paraglider pilots to altitude without a mountain. The vehicle drives away while the winch pays out the line in a controlled manner — the pilot climbs just like on a hill, but from flat ground. The TowTechniks T2 reaches up to 1100 m altitude.

Do I need a mountain nearby to use the T2?

No. The T2 payout winch is built specifically for flatland operations — a flat field is all you need. The winch mounts on any car towbar or boat; the vehicle drives away during the tow.

Is the TowTechniks T2 DHV certified?

Yes. The T2 holds DHV approval 05-0042-20, making it officially approved for paraglider winch towing in Germany and other countries that recognise the DHV certification.

Can the T2 be used for commercial tandem operations?

Yes. The T2 is designed for both solo and tandem paragliders and is in use for commercial tandem operations worldwide — including Thailand, Bulgaria, Turkey, Sweden, India and the Maldives. In tandem mode the tow load is electronically limited to 130 kg.

How many flights per hour can the T2 complete?

Up to 10 tows per hour to up to 1100 m altitude. The winch retrieves the line automatically on the return drive, so there is minimal waiting time between flights.

Where is the T2 manufactured?

The TowTechniks T2 Payout Winch is fully engineered and tested in Geilenkirchen, Germany. Every component — from the brake drum to the line prism — is built in-house.
